ENCRUSTED blood and a twist of police tape are the only reminders of a slashing that left a man bleeding in the road.

The man, 20s, is understood to have been chased down a back alley behind Manchester Road late on Friday night before he was slashed in the head on Gladstone Street.

Eyewitnesses suggested the victim had also been stamped on by his attacker. Gladstone Street was cordoned off for several hours earlier this morning. This afternoon, all that remained of the was a large patch of dried blood in the gutter and splashes of red on the asphalt.
