SWINDON: Charges were dismissed against two men accused of stealing £545 from an arcade.

Robert Bernal-Soria, 37, of Haydon Place, Guildford, and Michael Soteriou, 39, of Wayside Avenue, Essex, last year pleaded not guilty to taking money from Regal Gaming in Swindon in January 2018.

They were due to stand trial. However, the crown offered no evidence and the case was dismissed. The defendants’ costs were to be paid from central funds.

PARK NORTH: Harry Livingstone, 26, of Radstock Avenue, was sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge after he was found guilty of assaulting another man in October last year.

Magistrates ordered he pay a £20 victim surcharge and £195 costs.

MIDDLELEAZE: Edward Hersnip, 30, of Castleton Road, has been fined £250 for damaging a woman’s mobile phone. He pleaded guilty to criminal damage and must pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

PARK NORTH: Jermaine Spellman, 36, of Chickerell Road, has been handed a two year restraining order after he admitted beating a woman in May. Magistrates sentenced him to a two-year community order. Spellman must complete 78 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days. He must pay an £85 victim surcharge and £40 costs.

KINGSHILL: Sheldon Thomas, 38, of Kingshill, has been charged with robbing a man of his van keys and attempting to rob a woman of her handbag.

Swindon magistrates bailed Thomas to appear before the crown court on July 26.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Mark Taylor, 39, of Fairfield, was ordered to get help with his alcohol addiction after he admitting beating a woman and damaging her phone. He also admitted committing the latest assaults while subject to a conditional discharge.

Taylor was sentenced to a two year community order, with a six-month alcohol treatment requirement.

TOWN CENTRE: Miroslav Antol, 63, of Read Street, was sentenced to a nine month conditional discharge after he admitting assaulting a woman by beating. Magistrates ordered him to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

KINGSHILL: Samuel Bradshaw, 41, of Shire Court, denies making off without paying for fuel in November and December last year. He was bailed for the trial at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on September 19.

TOWN CENTRE: A racist who spat at his neighbours and posted items through their letter box must do 80 hours of unpaid work.

Robert Armstrong, 50, of Haydon Street, admitted harassment and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Magistrates sentenced him to an 18 month community order, with 25 rehabilitation activity days. He must pay £300 compensation and was given a restraining order banning him from contacting the family he had targeted.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Two landowners will face trial over allegations she breached a council enforcement notice.

Michelle Hinic, 48, and Jane Wheeler, 69, both of Greenhill, deny breaching a Wiltshire Council enforcement notice by failing to remove residential mobile homes from a site, called Clay Pits. It is also said she did not remove pathways, hardstanding and fencing.

The case was adjourned to October 7 for a trial at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

SWINDON: A paedophile who admits having indecent images of children will be sentenced by a crown court judge.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court, Damon Bower, 48, of Fort Cumberland Road, Southsea, Hampshire, admitted three charges of making indecent images of children, including one in the most serious category. He was bailed to appear before the crown court on July 19.

TOWN CENTRE: Jake Thomley, 26, of Read Street, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man and stealing another’s bicycle.

He was sentenced to a 12 month community order, with a 13 week electronic curfew and three months alcohol treatment requirement. Thomley must pay £150 compensation to the assault victim and £100 to the man whose bike he stole. He was also ordered to pay £170 in costs and victim surcharge.
