He’s too old for the new 16-17 year olds’ railcard but Old Town councillor Nick Burns-Howell is backing the scheme.
He does qualify for the 26-30 years version and reckons the new digital ‘card’ for teenagers, many of whom travel to school by train, is ideal.
He said: “I would urge all 16 and 17 year olds in Swindon to take advantage of this fantastic new digital railcard, which will guarantee them half-price fares on trains. I regularly use my 26-30 card, which was really quick and easy to sign up to. I have a number of young people in my ward who rely on trains to get to school, college and work, and I am pleased that the government is listening to young voices and is determined to ensure that fares are more affordable for them.”
