YOUNG Wiltshire racer Louis Harvey celebrated his 15th birthday in style with a win at the latest round of the Rissington Kart Club Championships in the Junior TKM class.

Malmesbury’s Harvey stormed to victory in round nine and came second in round 10, setting the fastest lap of the day in the process.

Unofficial figures indicate that he has secured the 2019 Rissington Kart Club Championship with two rounds still to go.

Having missed Saturday practice due to commitments at the Goodwood Festival of Speed commitment, Harvey was on the back foot from the start although soon settled to secure the third fastest time in qualifying.

The two heat races saw Harvey finish fifth then second, with those points added together to hand him third place on the grid for both rounds nine and 10 of the championship.

Harvey got a clean start in the first final and soon settled into second place.

He began to push the leader before a precision move on lap 11 saw Harvey take the lead, which he held until the chequered flag.

Harvey got another clean start in the second final and had taken the lead by the end of lap four.

Although he surrendered the position, Harvey attempted to win it back on lap 13. As both drivers accelerated down the straight, Harvey was forced onto the grass and had to take evasive action to avoid an accident.

Harvey had to settle for third place as he crossed the finish line, however, the earlier incident was reviewed by the stewards, with a five-second penalty for his rival promoting the Wiltshire youngster to second.
