A VAUXHALL driver has denied causing the death of motorcyclist Angus Yeates in a crash last summer.

Nathan Prangle, 21, Greenway Avenue, Chippenham, appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing death by careless driving.

It is alleged he was driving a Vauxhall Insignia on the A350 near Lacock on August 5 last year when he was involved in a crash with motorcyclist Angus Yeates.

The 54-year-old, from Devizes, was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After last year’s crash, Mr Yeates’ family said they were devastated to say the man had died. In a tribute, they said: “He was such a kind, loving, generous man who would do anything for anyone. He lived for his family and motorbikes.

“You will be missed so much by all who knew you, especially your loving mum Catherine, brother Tim, your children Luke and Kirsty, your three grandchildren and all the family.”

Magistrates declined jurisdiction over the case. Prangle is due to appear before Swindon Crown Court on August 9 for a trial preparation hearing.
