WROUGHTON Country Market celebrated 100 years since markets were first put up.
It was set up in 1919 so locally grown produce, baked and crafted items could be sold.
They celebrated last Friday by dressing up in costumes from 1919 and offered refreshments for a pre-decimal coin.
Wroughton Country Market separated from Women’s Institute Markets – founder of local markets, in 1995.
But it still lets people sell eggs, honey, fruit, vegetables and plants in their local area to help small businesses.
A competition to name the market mascot was a part of the event and all the money raised to be given to Wiltshire Treehouse.
Wiltshire Treehouse is a local charity that supports bereaved children, a total of £108 was raised.
They encouraged anyone taking part to reduce their plastic use by buying handmade fabric bags, beeswax wraps, re-usable cotton face wipes and re-usable cotton dishcloths.
