A VILLAGE primary school just outside Alresford has retained its ‘outstanding’ status following a recent Ofsted report.
Staff and pupils at Cheriton Primary School have been celebrating after the inspector spent two intensive days looking at all aspects of the school.
The final report highlights the strengths of the school’s curriculum and the “creative” way it is delivered to generate meaningful links between subjects.
Headteacher Andrew Goldsworthy said that he is “overjoyed that the hard work of the children, staff, governors and the whole community has been recognised”.
He added: “The school achieved an outstanding grade at its last inspection in 2008 and has always worked hard to provide a high quality education for its children.”
The report also states that the children write exceptionally well in all subjects and consider the purpose of and audience for their writing.
A celebration lunch was enjoyed by the children and staff, followed by afternoon tea to which parents, governors and others who have supported the school were invited.
