POLICE, fire and ambulance crews raced to rescue a driver trapped in her car after a crash in Haydon Wick.

A red Land Rover Discovery had left the road and gone down an embankment off Haydonleigh Drive at around 5.40pm on Saturday.

One fire engine from Swindon and one from Westlea saved the driver before paramedics treated the injured motorist and police made the area safe.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “The crews used cutting equipment and provided casualty care to free the person inside the vehicle. Crews worked with Wiltshire police and the ambulance service.”

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “The driver, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Great Western Hospital but her injuries were not believed to be serious. Officers alerted the local authority to deal with damage to the carriageway."
