Bunting was hanging up around Haydon Wick on Saturday, as the community came together for their second biannual festival.

A parade down the High Street led by the Wiltshire Army Cadet Force Band and the Britannia Majorettes and Miniettes, ended at the Emmanuel United Reformed Church where stalls and activities were on offer for residents and visitors.

Organiser Rev Gerald England said: “It’s a day where all the local people can feel part of their community and come together at the church.”

All proceeds will go towards new windows in the church, which dates back to 1849.

Linda Brown, chairman of the Haydon Wick Parish Council who opened the festival added: “It’s lovely to have events like this which draw the whole community together. It’s a great privilege to open it today.”

“I really love the parade,” said Haydon Wick resident and mum of two, Stacy Wyatt. “It’s brilliant to have something that everyone in the community can join in with. The kids really enjoy it and there’s a real community feeling here today.”

“It’s a fairly unique event,” added Brian Eyles who has lived in Haydon Wick for 14 years. “And with an interesting mix of young and old here. It will be nice to see things like this happen again in the future as there aren’t all that many community things these days.”
