Swindon Advertiser:

David Manser

A partial lunar eclipse is where the Earth crosses between the Sun and the Moon casting a partial shadow across the surface.

The astronomical event also happened to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch that sent humans to the moon for the very first time.
