A PARISH councillor in Stratton has quit his post to return to Sweden after only a few weeks in the job.
Kevin Andersson decided to resign from his role representing the Coleview ward on Stratton St Margaret Parish Council at the start of the month.
Now, ten government electors for Mr Andersson's former ward have until July 30 to request that the parish's returning officer hold an election to fill this casual vacancy.
If no request is received from ten electors during this time period, the parish council must co-opt a person to fill the vacancy as soon as possible after the deadline passes.
Mr Andersson received 416 votes in the last local election as a Conservative Party candidate and spent just under two months in his political post.
A parish council spokeswoman confirmed that Mr Andersson had resigned and revealed: "He made the decision to move back to Sweden."
