We can be great again

It would seem that in my absence I have had a fair amount of criticism.

Friends and neighbours have kept me up to date since my return.

So here is my answer to these critics.Yes I consider myself to be a Brexiteer.

And my main reason for this is the fact that I know that we, the British people deserve and can do better than to be a part of this monolith called the EU.

I would initially look to the past.

To me one man stands out as being one if not the cleverest and gifted engineers this county has ever seen.

I refer of course to Isambard Kingdom Brunel,

One only has to look at his accomplishments to realise just how gifted he was.

He was the first man to successfully put a tunnel under the river Thames in London,

He designed the Clifton Suspension Bridge. And he designed, planned and built the Great Western Railway.

This between 1837 and it was finished in in 1841. At that time it was the longest railway in the world. During the building of it he created a bridge at Maidenhead which saw the construction of the two longest brick arches in the world, this was in 1839 and they are still the longest today.

And still carrying 100`s of trains everyday. Also the Brent viaduct, eight brick arches and again still in use today. His ship the Great Western in 1842, crossed the Atlantic and still had 200 tons of coal left in its bunkers.

The Great Western Railway was built in a very short space of time. London to Bristol. Yet we are still only talking about HS2. If we had another Brunel it would be already finished.

This man and many more like him is the reason I am confident that we can prosper outside the EU. We always have been leaders from the late 1700s through to the time we joined the EU via the Maastricht treaty.

That’s when it all started to go downhill. The corrupt leadership of the EU were only interested in themselves. What was in it for them personally!

And so many dummies believed all the nonsense than came out of Brussels it was unbelievable.

That’s when we started to go downhill. And why? Because they, these so called clever people in Brussels wanted to rule us, rub our noses in it.

Do you honestly do what they tell you? Are you all that pitifully gullible.

We saw the most powerful empire in the world, no not intolerant, strong yes, But why do all these people from what was a part of the Empire still want to come here. Would they if we were as bad as some of you seem to think?

But no, still they want to come to “Mother Britain” and why? Because we are without a doubt the very best.

That’s what keeps them coming. So forget the EU. Let’s concentrate on the Old Commonwealth. Those we know and who know us. Then we can again be a truly great nation once more.

Pay rise? Bah humbug

Another little snippet I picked up on was a government source has stated that on average wages have gone up by 3.8 per cent over the past 12 months – happy days.

Could someone in this wonderful happy place please tell my employer because since 2008 the highest my yearly salary increase was either zilch or one per cent most of those years between 2008 and 2019.

What planet are these people on? If anyone out there in the great big Adver world got 3.8 per cent could you again let my guvnors know. Getting 3.8 per cent we might get a Christmas this year. Bah Humbug.
