Runners at Swindon's parkrun in Lydiard Park are being encouraged to wear their old half marathon tops from previous events tomorrow.
The aim is to get more people to enter this year's Swindon Half Marathon, which organisers say will be the last.
Parkrun volunteer Greg Wells said: “The idea is to try encourage anyone who has not entered already, to get their entry in and hopefully get close to the break-even numbers for the event. Ideally we want to get sufficient interest to keep the event alive for future years.”
Emma Sperring, Swindon parkrun event director said: “Lots of runners in Swindon have entered this year’s event and it will be a great shame if it was to come to an end. I know lots of people would like to see this as an annual fixture on their running calenders.
“The aim is to raise awareness of the event and ensure that we are supporting it as much as possible. We’re a large town and lots of large towns have a half marathon, so we need one too.”
