Householders across Swindon should keep an eye out for plastic food waste caddies arriving on their doorstep.

Those in houses will receive two – a five litre indoor caddy and a 23 litre outdoor one. Flat dwellers will get the indoor caddy and a food waste bin will be added to their communal bins.

Food waste trials are about to start in parts of Middleleaze, Nine Elms, Wroughton, Broome Manor, Marlborough Road, Park South, Broad Street, Coleview, Highworth, Cheney Manor, Gorse Hill, Abbey Meads and Taw Hill.

Not every street in the trial areas is on one of the trial routes, so those who live in one of these areas are encouraged to visit to check if their household will be part of the trials.

Householders are asked to keep their caddies in a safe place until the trial starts in September. If the six-month trial goes well, food waste recycling will be extended across town.
