NINETIES hitmakers Phats and Small promise a “new and improved” set to wow the crowds when they perform at the MFor Festival in Lydiard Park on Saturday

The dance duo, best-known for international mega-hit Turn Around, are gearing up to be part of the family fun day and looking forward to sharing the stage with acts including Years and Years, Ella Eyre, Becky Hill, HRVY, Toploader and Swindon’s own Jahmene Douglas.

Jason “Phats” Hayward spoke to the Adver from his studio.

He said: “I’m really excited, we were really keen to be in such a stellar line-up and it’s one of the biggest festival’s we’re playing after doing so much on the UK festival circuit over the last couple of years.

“The charity aspect is great, I love that it’s a family-oriented event organised by people from Swindon for the local community and I think it’s going to be pretty spectacular.

“We’ve been working on our set for a couple of months, it’s been tweaked so it’s new and improved.

"We recorded a new album last year and sometimes drop a cappella teasers into our gigs, so there may be something different in there on Saturday.”

After coming back with a bang by re-releasing and re-mixing their 90s hit single a few years ago, Phats and Small are enjoying a resurgence and working hard on new music.

Jason added: “It’s wonderful to still be doing the best job in the world after all this time.

“I never stopped making music but I never thought our comeback would be so enthusiastically received, it’s really kicked off again.

“There’s nothing better than going out into the crowd and soaking up the atmosphere.

"It’s always an honour to play in the UK, the response has been overwhelming and humbling.”

The MFor Festival will be at Lydiard Park from 11am to 10.30pm with live music, activities and games, and the Red Devils dropping in.
