A DEVIZES girl accused of robbing a woman of her mobile phone at knifepoint has appeared before magistrates.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with two counts of robbery and threatening a woman with an offensive weapon.
The charges relate to two incidents in Devizes town centre. On Tuesday, July 16, she is accused of having robbed a woman of her pencil case on the canal towpath. Four days later on Saturday, July 20, the girl is said to have taken a woman’s mobile phone in a knifepoint robbery near the Wharf Street car park.
Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon wearing jogging bottoms and a green top, the girl entered no pleas to the charges and spoke only to confirm her name, age and address.
She smiled to her parents as Alison Auvray, chairman of the bench, remanded her into youth detention until Thursday, July 25, when she is due to appear before Salisbury Youth Court.
