MANAGERS at the Swindon hospital where VIP paedophile fantasist Carl Beech once worked said there was no evidence to suggest he had behaved badly in the workplace.

The 51-year-old was today found guilty on 12 counts of perverting the course of justice and one count of fraud, with the Newcastle Crown Court jury concluding that he had made up a string of wild accusations against a fictitious Westminster paedophile ring.

Beech told detectives over hours of tearful interviews that his late stepfather, an Army major, raped him, then passed him on to generals to be tortured at military bases and sadistically sexually abused by other Establishment figures in the 1970s and 1980s.

He named former prime minister Sir Edward Heath, disgraced TV star Jimmy Savile and security chiefs Sir Michael Hanley, the head of MI5, and MI6 boss Sir Maurice Oldfield among the gang after meeting a journalist from the defunct news agency Exaro.

Paedophile Beech, who was convicted last year of possessing indecent images of children, worked as a team manager at Great Western Hospital until 2012 - the same year he approached Wiltshire Police over claims he had been abused.

A spokeswoman for Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “Carl Beech was last employed by the trust over 10 years ago in the Patient Advice and Liaison Service. There is no evidence to suggest that he behaved inappropriately in the workplace.”
