Staff at the Great Western Hospital are suffering almost no abuse from patients.

Questions have been raised up and down the country about how patients treat staff at hospitals but a freedom of information request has revealed that GWH suffers from very little of these incidents.

Reports of racist or homophobic abuse towards staff are little to none with only two racist abuse incidents reported within the past year and no homophobic abuse reports at all.

However, in case of abuse, a spokesperson for the Great Western Hospital said: “Our staff do their very best to provide high quality care and should not have to experience verbal of physical abuse from patients or visitors.

“Abuse of NHS staff is never okay and we will always take action to protect our staff from abusive behaviour.

“As part of our Never OK campaign we’ve stepped up measure to protect staff, with body cameras, personal panic alarms and notices.”
