A man was attacked by two others during an attempted robbery in Kingshill.

The victim was on the phone to his friend whilst sitting in his black Volkswagen Golf on Dunsford Close.

Two men approached his car and threatened him and told him they were going to steal his car before punching him several times, leaving him with a cut on his eye.

The victim attempted to get away by driving the car but drove into a bollard in the road.

The two men ran up Sunnyside Avenue going towards Okus.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who might have witnessed the incident.

The first man has been described as in his early 20s, 6ft tall and of slim build. He had a tanned complexion, stubble on his face and was wearing a light coloured top, and blue basketball style shorts.

The second is described as white, approximately 6ft 1in tall, with short hair and was wearing a dark grey hooded top.

PC James Mann said: "This was a nasty attempted robbery which occurred at 4pm - it's likely there would have been people out and about who would have seen the incident take place.

"Both men were seen in the area before the incident - we believe they had been walking around near Dunsford Close and to the rear of the petrol station at the bottom of Kingshill."
