TWO free events held in the renovated Carriage Works aim to showcase homegrown digital talent and give people the chance to find out more about new technology.

Tomorrow, the Workshed will welcome businesses from around the town to its Swindon 'Solopreneurs' event.

Talks, advice sessions and free hotdesks will help local business owners and employees make new connections and develop their firms.

The event will be held from 9am to 5pm.

Next Monday the Digital Drinks evening will give tech-savvy enthusiasts and intrigued newcomers the chance to chat about their projects and try out cutting-edge technology.

Guests can have a go at virtual reality with the HTC Vive, check out innovative hazard perception software in a driving simulator and see how AR technology can help environmental projects.

Workshed manager Jolyon Rose said: "Our get-togethers are always a great opportunity for local people and businesses to meet each other - and also to gain new skills and knowledge.

"We’re also delighted to offer local people and businesses a chance to try out our great co-working facilities for free.”
