A former employee of the Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool is kayaking 150 miles down the River Thames.

Harry Cattell, who was referred to the pool when he was younger, worked there for four years and has decided to help raise money for the charity on its 40th anniversary.

Starting on August 10, Harry will paddle from Lechlade to London Bridge which will take him seven to eight days.

The 29-year-old said: “The idea is to raise awareness for the pool. I’ll have its logo and name over my shirt so hopefully people will see it.

“They don’t have a waiting list like other places and it can be a great help to people, like me and my family.”

The Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool in Jefferies Avenue is a charity that helps adults and children with all types of mental and physical disabilities.
