A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a VW Beetle near Melksham.
The woman was in a motorcycle and sidecar, towing a second motorcycle, when she lost control and fell into the road. She was hit by an oncoming car travelling in the opposite direction to her motorcycle.
The accident, which happened on the A365 near Shaw Hill at around 3.30pm on Saturday, closed the road for three hours.
Police said the woman was airlifted to Southmead Hospital, Bristol, where she is in a serious but stable condition.
PC Tom Wilson appealed for any witnesses to call the Wiltshire Police collision investigation unit on 01380 861049.
