VEGANS and climate activists put up banners over bridges in Swindon and across the country, urging people to go vegan.
A group from Swindon hung a banner over the bridge between Wroughton and Wichelstowe on Saturday.
Alice Tulissio, 17 said: “I wanted to get involved because it would be great to show awareness for veganism.
“If it is on a bridge over a road loads of people will see it and perhaps think about what they are seeing.”
Alice, who is part of an Extinction Rebellion youth group in Swindon, joined in the campaign group’s march in Old Town last month. She said: “I am vegan for the animals and the environment.”
Friends not Food, a group based in Bristol, launched the initiative and initially made 25 banners.
But due to the high number of requests, they have doubled the number.
A total of 50 cities across the UK are taking part of the campaign which has been inspired by the work of Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old Swedish activist.
The youngster is calling on governments across the world to take immediate action to tackle climate change.
A spokesman for Extinction Rebellion said: “Finding ways to radically transform how land is used and how we feed ourselves is essential as industrial animal agriculture and factory farming are driving climate breakdown and ecological collapse.”
