THE Adver asked people in Swindon to give their view on what they want to change about Swindon.

For Anna Bird, more accessible playgrounds for children with disabilities are needed in town.

She said: “Most families like ours travel to different counties to use accessible playgrounds designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities.”

She also complained about the lack of public toilets and said: “Places which are closer to home like Coate Water, Lydiard, Regent Circus, Greenbridge to name a few don’t have changing places toilets. These facilities would make it so much so easier to enjoy leisure time in Swindon.”

Some asked for better medical facilities. Kevin and Caroline Hobbs said: “Stop building houses, the hospital can’t cope with the population in Swindon as it is already, not to mention doctors surgeries.”

Emma Cuthbert added: “Build a bigger hospital or expand the current one. Don’t build anymore houses until you’ve done this. The hospital is barely coping as it is.”

Quite a lot of commenters were unhappy about the town centre. Alex Cameron said: “More investment in the arts and culture, and more events in the town centre with a bigger drive on getting people in.”

Declan Forde said: “Completely level the whole town centre with bulldozers and start over.”

Ashleigh Joanne Head added: “A huge amount of money needs to be pumped into the town centre. It’s dire, it’s ugly and dirty. The variety of shops and cafes which are somehow still keeping their doors open is poor.”
