NURSERY tots and staff celebrated the vast vocabulary of the English language by dressing up as their favourite words for Wacky Word Day.
Windmill Hill Day Nursery filled with pirates, leopards, sticks, puzzles, rainbows and x-rays as creative children received prizes for their varied and colourful costumes.
Manager Lora Worthington said: “Early literacy is so important and promotes many valuable life skills such as language development, communication and confidence.
"We were so thrilled to see the effort that has gone into the fabulous costumes and have extended this by using the children’s chosen words in related activities."
The nursery fundraised for its charity partner Mind using donations for each costume and a cake sale.
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Money raised will fund the charity’s work including the Mind Infoline and campaigns to secure a better deal for everybody who experiences a mental health problem.
Lora added: “We aim to make a real difference when it comes to supporting worthy causes and Mind is reaching out to about 14 million people a year in the UK who are experiencing a mental health problem."
