A BOXING bonanza will raise money for the Swindon mayor’s charities later this year.

Coun Kevin Parry is organising a fundraising evening full of fights at the Meca to support CALM and the Swindon and North Wiltshire Deaf Children’s Society.

Experienced boxers and debut fighters will take part in 16 bouts and there will be singers and dancers performing throughout the day.

Mr Parry said: “This is the first ever mayor's charity boxing match in Swindon. I wanted to try something different with a mix of entertainment that will attract a wider audience and support Swindon acts alongside my chosen charities.

"Swindon has a reputation as a boxing town, which is fantastic and I'm a fan of it, so it should be an exciting evening."

The mayor is looking for corporate sponsorship and wants businesses based in and around the town to sign up for sponsorship packages which will support good causes while giving these businesses more exposure.

The event will be held at the Meca on Saturday October 19 from 6pm to 10pm. Standard tickets cost £15, ringside seats cost £35 and VIP 10-seater tables with welcome drink, waitress service and buffet cost £500.
