Swindon & Wiltshire Pride has reassured the public that laughing gas will not be tolerated at the event this weekend.

The statement comes after clean-up volunteers for Brighton Pride discovered the beach littered with empty cannisters. They also filled over 150 bags of rubbish after the event.

Pride Chairman, Kristian Wheeler, said: “Anybody found in possession of NOS canisters will be refused entry. Any person seen misusing solvents will be removed in line with our drugs policy, they may also be handed to police as misusing solvents is a criminal offence.

Swindon Advertiser:

“We have a number of green initiatives in place, for example the cups in the bars will be 100% biodegradable and compostable, and we are encouraging people to bring empty reusable bottles and use our refill points supplied by Thames Water.

“We have a wide range of activities planned for the whole day so keeping hydrated is essential.

“We have a great team that works alongside us to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance, throughout their stay with us, and making their safe journey home at the end of the day.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone into the Town Gardens on Saturday.”
