A DETACHED house and garage should be build on the edge of the village of Hinton Parva near Wanborough, according to planners at Euclid Street, despite the parish council saying it shouldn't.

Councillors on Swindon Borough Council's planning committee will be asked to decide on an application by Peggy Bennett, who owns Nether water Cottage in City Corner.

Mrs Bennett wants to be able to build the three-bed house along with a garage and car port on land behind her house.

But because the house would be outside the development boundary of the rural village to the south east of Swindon, Bishopstone Parish Council has objected to the scheme and "called it in" to the higher council's committee.

The planners' report, which recommends councillors approve the plan says: "The benefits include the provision of much needed housing together with short term economic benefits that construction would bring."

The committee meets at 6pm on Tuesday August 13.
