THE MFor Festival will return in 2020 after more than 5,000 people attended its launch event at Lydiard Park last month.

Olly Murs, Lewis Capaldi, Craig David and The Script are the acts festival fans would like to see the most at next year's event, according to a poll on the festival's facebook page.

Other suggested names included Jess Glynne, Rudimental and Clean Bandit while many requested that Phats and Small and Years and Years return to the stage for another Swindon concert.

The actual acts will be announced at a later date but organisers promised "a huge lineup".

Team leader Graham Stobbs said: "We've shown people what we're all about and we've brought big bands to Swindon.

"Now we're rolling on to the next one, which we started planning even before the first festival finished."

Next year's event will be held on SaturdayJuly 25 2020 from 12pm to 10.30pm and will once again be suitable for all ages.

Before the MFor Festival came along, pop stars who wished to perform in Swindon had a limited choice of the Oasis Leisure Centre or the Wyvern Theatre.

Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2009 was the last major music festival to be held in Lydiard Park. Several MFor acts played at the radio station's 2019 festival in Middlesborough.
