A PLAYING field and recreation space in north Swindon is to be taken on by the parish council - if borough councillors agree.
Members of the higher authority's planning committee will be asked to approve the suggestion that Stratton St Margaret Parish Council should be allowed to take control and responsibility of the public open space by the Esprit gymnasium on the old Headland School site on Cricklade Road.
Under the original planning agreement the borough council was due to take on the ground from developer Bellway Homes.
If the members agree at the Tuesday meeting. then the parish council will also receive the funds agreed between the borough and Bellway Homes to maintain the space.
