More and more people in Swindon are accessing council services online, councillors will be told.

The authority’s cabinet member for corporate services and organisational excellence Keith Williams will face questions from members of the Scrutiny committee tonight at Euclid Street.

Coun Williams' report will say that online transactions have increased from 45 per cent to 74 per cent of all council-related inquiries in the last year.

The report concludes that the council is on track to meet its target of 85 per cent of all transactions being online by March next year.

The council's new phone system received a large amount of calls after it was introduced earlier this year/

The report says: “A modernised reception has been opened to the public and a new telephony system had been rolled out.

"It has been a year of significant challenges within the contact centre as call demand has been high.

"There is now a clear plan in place to deliver against a service level of 80 per cent of calls answered within two minutes.”
