PCSOs were surrounded by furious youths as they tried to recover a stolen moped.

Officers from the South Swindon Community Policing Team located a moped on August 12 in the Wichelstowe area which was believed to have been stolen.

A number of youths surrounded PCSOs while they attempted to recover the vehicle.

One of them pushed one of the officers over before the group fled the scene prior to other officers arriving.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested this morning following the incident and approximately £2,000 cash was seized from the teenager’s bedroom. He was further arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Enquiries are ongoing and he remains in custody at Gablecross police station.

Sgt Paul Bezzant said: “There have been several reports recently of this group of youths being involved in anti-social behaviour in the area, and as a result we have increased patrols to tackle the problem.

“We are working with the local community in order to target the right areas at the right time and we would welcome any intelligence from residents in relation to this, as well as any help in identifying those responsible.

“The assault on the PCSO highlights the mindset of these individuals as they actively shoved her to try and take the stolen vehicle back. These individuals need to realise that there is no place for this behaviour in society and we will crack down on those who continue to act in this disrespectful way.”
