POLICE swarmed East Wichel after reports a woman was assaulted in the development.
Two men were said to have struck the woman, 30s, in the head with an mystery object on Tuesday night.
Wiltshire Police was unable to confirm local reports that two men had been seen carrying a hammer.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "Officers were called just after 8pm to a report that a woman in her 30s had been assaulted at an address in East Wichel.
"It is believed two males were involved and one is believed to have struck the woman to the head with an unknown object. She was not injured.
"It is believed the group left the scene on bikes in the direction of the town centre. Officers attended the scene and carried out an area search and enquiries are ongoing at this time."
