More homegrown bands will be heard on Swindon 105.5 as the Youth Matters team moves to a new time slot.

The show will be on air in a new 7-9pm Tuesday slot in order to gain an hour to allow for regular live music.

Luke Jones, one of its presenters, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity and having the additional hour allows us to have more of a balance between our two favourite subjects, youth issues and music.”

Since launching in 2008, the station has proactively promoted local music, singers and songwriters as well as co-running Swindon Talent alongside the Adver for three years.

This has provided a platform for a wide range of local talent, including Jahmene Douglas, who went on to take second place in X Factor and recently performed at the MFor Festival.

Jahmene said: “Swindon 105.5 is the place to get your music heard and the station does an excellent job in providing opportunities. Shirley [Ludford, station manager] and the team have always been there for me.”
