The Explorer Dome proved a stellar success at Steam Museum last week.

The Wonders of Space event, which was paired with a VR experience from technology firm Altro-Orbis, was fully booked for the three slots it had available.

Income generation manager Ian Surtees said: “We’re chuffed to bits.

"It was a very successful event.

“Our main objective was to sell out all the sessions and we had done that ahead of the event itself.

“We’re already looking to do it again and we’ll definitely be getting it back next year.

“Often we do dual tickets, but we also wanted to give people the option if they just wanted to come and see the space stuff.

“We don’t want to force people to combine their tickets, but because we’re currently doing our kid for a quid promotion a lot of people did.

“After the kids go back it gets busy for us. Next up we have the Swindon Railway Festival in early September."
