DETECTIVES are continuing to probe a terrifying burglary that saw six masked men smash their way into a Wroughton home on Sunday night.
The crowbar-armed gang demanded the Woodland View homeowners, a couple in their 70s, hand over cash. The burglars were disturbed by a neighbour, but managed to make off with £300.
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman confirmed officers were yet to make any arrests in connection with the violent burglary.
Appealing for witnesses yesterday, Det Sgt Justin Downes of Swindon CID said: “Luckily the couple were not physically injured during the burglary, but understandably they have been left shaken by what happened and are being supported by family.
“Our initial enquiries suggest the group fled the scene in a silver or grey car when they were disturbed by a neighbour who noticed the front door had been smashed.
“We believe the vehicle, which may have been an Audi A6, turned right out of Woodland View towards the centre of Wroughton.”
