PEOPLE have reacted with dismay after the Teenfest planned for Bradford Bulls' Odsal stadium today was cancelled at the last minute.

The club said on Thursday evening that the music festival could no longer go ahead due to public safety fears.

The likes of Aitch, Melissa Steel and Wrapz were all due to take to the stage.

Fans have commented on the T&A's website expressing their disappointment.

Angela Billing wrote: "Very little as it is for our teenagers they get all excited for this and they cancel it at the last minute not to mention the tickets weren't cheap."

Jodie Domine Roberts said: "We've been waiting all day for an email. The company themselves haven't announced that it's cancelled. So annoying."

In a statement, a Bradford Bulls spokesperson said: "It is disappointing that this event was not able to go ahead following concerns for public safety.

"We accept the recommendation of the Public Safety Liaison Group and feel there was inadequate detail in the organisers’ plan with many issues unclear.

"Information has been sent to the organisers outlining concerns which the PSLG feel are irretrievable given the timescales and the club agrees.

"Without the correct planning and documentation from the organisers, we were unable to allow our facility to be used for the event and given the recommendation from the Public Safety Liaison Group we had no alternative."

A spokesperson for Bradford's Public Safety Liaison Group, which is a multi-agency group chaired by Bradford Council, said: “Unfortunately there were numerous elements of the event management safety plan that lacked the required detail to assure us that this specific event could be held safely.

“We tried to work with the organisers to help make the plan more robust but sadly that was not achieved in the timescale required and so, with the safety of young people our primary concern, we recommended this particular event did not go ahead.”

Teenfest was promised to be a fun-filled day which will consist of: live music acts, a classic DJ line-up, exclusive performances, main stage and marquee entertainment, the very first teen talent tent, fun fair rides, arcades, inflatable rodeo bulls, neon make-up artist, food and drink vendors and barbecues.

Tickets cost £15, or £20 or £25 for VIP entry.
