Court orders have been served to evict travellers from the car park of a Stratton leisure centre.

Grange Leisure visitors spotted the group arriving and setting up at the site earlier this week.

The police and parish council quickly found out about them soon afterwards.

A spokeswoman for Stratton St Margaret Parish Council said: "Thank you to everyone who's got in touch to notify us of the unlawful encampment of travellers in the car park at Grange Leisure.

"Members of the public are asked not to approach this area.

"The parish council is taking appropriate action for their eviction.

"The police and Swindon Borough Council welfare officer have been informed.

"If you are experiencing any problems, then please report this to the police on 101 or 999 if it is an emergency.

"We thank you for your patience and diligence whilst we deal with this matter."

The travellers were first spotted on Tuesday and were served eviction orders yesterday.
