Three staff members from the Regent Street Specsavers will be taking part in TrekFest.

The charity event, ton August 31, will see the trio hike 50km in the Peak District.

Each member is raising money for a different charity through individual JustGiving pages. Store manager, Lauren Stevenson, has raised £1,014 for Cancer Research, receptionist Megan Harper has raised £500 for Bowel Cancer UK and contact lens supervisor Ben Peapell has raised £260 for Human Relief Foundation.

A further £320 has been raised in-store and will be split between each of the charities.

Lauren said: “The trek is going to be tough. We’re aiming to complete the route in 12 hours, which means setting off before 7am.

“It’ll be a long day, but worth it for the charities we’ve chosen.”

“Each is very special to us. Both Megan and I have lost someone close to us from cancer, so it means the world that people have donated.”

"We want to raise as much money as possible and we are still accepting donations via our JustGiving pages."

The TrekFest hike starts in Hope Valley, in the heart of the Peak District, and take in some of the scenery in the national park, including the summit of Kinder Scout, a moorland plateau that is 636m tall at its highest point.
