Parks Initiated Projects Swindon are hosting a musical afternoon for the community.
On September 7 St John’s Church Hall will host a gathering of local choirs and performers to demonstrate the positive effects of singing and encourage people to join a choir.
Situated in Parks, one of the most deprived areas in our town, it is hopped the event will be uplifting for the community.
“I wanted to offer the people of Parks something they don’t normally get to see or hear,” said hall manager Sam Rawlings.
The free event starts at 12 noon and there will also be a tombola and refreshments on offer, including cream tea, bacon rolls, and cakes. If the weather is fine performances may take place outside.
Performers will be collecting for their own charities on the day as well as donations are welcome to PIPS.
Sam continued: "The most important thing on the day is that everyone enjoys themselves, this is what this event is for. Whether you want to just watch and clap along or get up and dance to the music, if we manage to put a smile on someone’s face then we know we have done well.”
