A TRIAL is expected to start tomorrow of nine people accused of laundering around £9m.

They are accused of having set up companies and bank accounts, using the accounts to launder millions of pounds in criminal funds between July 2014 and September 2015.

The seven men and two women are due before Bristol Crown Court for the trial, which opens tomorrow morning. It is expected to last six weeks.

The defendants are: Gino Helvacioglu, 23, of Plymouth Street, Kristian King, 25, of Baillie Close, Tadpole Garden Village, Celia Mazzotta, 75, of Shrivenham Road, Hayriye Mazzotta, 27, of Beckhampton Street, Vahit Oktar, 57, of Collett Avenue, Adam Phelps, 25, of Commercial Road, Joshua Pinsent, 26, of Rutland Road, Daniel Rice, 29, of Granica Close, and Daniel Ricketts, 27, of Marbeck Close.

One of the defendants, Vahit Oktar, has been specifically charged with setting up a company - V&O Foods - and opening a bank account with Santander as part of the alleged money laundering plans.
