Free story telling is coming to the Brunel Centre.

This Sunday families will have the chance to share stories, sing songs and play games together as part of Volunteer Centre Swindon’s week-long pop-up shop next to Buzz Gyms.

Small Talk from the National Literacy Trust is running activities for young children between 11am and 3pm.

The afternoon is part of Swindon Stories, a campaign led by the National Literacy Trust in partnership with Swindon Borough Council and supported by WHSmith.

Children who take part will be given a free tote bag containing a new book, bubbles, activity sheets and a fridge magnet. The event forms part of the Small Talk project, which help parents turn everyday things into opportunities to fill their child’s world with words.

Sarah McDermott, Small Talk project manager at the National Literacy Trust, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting Volunteer Centre Swindon’s brilliant pop-up shop with our Small Talk activities and hope that lots of families will come along.

“It’s completely free and families will get to take home some fantastic goodies – including a brand new book and activity sheets – to help them carry on the fun and learning.”
