KEEN amateur photographers in Swindon are being given an extra incentive to get out and about with their cameras this month.

Our popular annual Photo Competition, run by Visit Wiltshire with the backing of the Adver, is still running and invites images that capture the essence of life in the county.

Entries should tie in with one of the tourist information site’s four ‘Timeless’ themes:

• Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s white horses.

• Places: including market towns, villages and visitor attractions.

• Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals and events, arts and entertainment.

• Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna.

Sponsor Castle Cameras – which a branch in Salisbury – is offering gift vouchers worth £200 and £50 respectively to the winner and two runners-up.

Fiona Errington, VisitWiltshire’s marketing manager, said: “There is sure to be plenty of inspiration for keen photographers all around the county – based on previous years’ experience we can expect the standard of entries to be very high, so we are in for a real treat.”

The competition opened in May and runs until September 29. Entrants can submit up to eight colour, digital images per calendar month.
