A SPECIAL event to provide an insight into what it means to be a children’s social worker at Wiltshire Council will be held this month.

The day will provide an opportunity to meet director of families and children’s services Lucy Townsend and chat to Wiltshire Council social workers over tea and cake about their experiences.

There will be a first-hand insight into the council’s future plans and how the council teams work together to make a positive difference as well as information on available roles. Guest speaker will be Stefan Kleipoedszus, a programme leader of the Qualifying Social Work Programme at Bournemouth University, who will talk about children taking risks.

Cabinet member for children, education and skills Pauline Church said: “This is a great opportunity to find out what it means to be a social worker in Wiltshire.

“Our teams work hard to make a difference in children’s lives, and as a council we are committed to supporting them to do their job successfully. We want to share their experiences with others so we can encourage more people to join our teams, which are completely focussed on making lives better for those children and families who need our support.”

The event takes place from 10.30am on Saturday, September 21 at County Hall in Trowbridge. Anyone wishing to attend the event can email grace.perry@wiltshire.gov.uk or book a place at eventbrite.co.uk/e/childrens-social-work-open-event-tickets-64789366740
