BBC Wiltshire is looking for new talent to take over its radio mic for 60 seconds.

Auditions will be held for anyone with a love for their local area to tell a story about something they care about in under a minute.

The subject must be something local and hopefuls will be judged by Breakfast Show presenter Ben Prater, senior BBC journalist Tory Pope and the National Trust’s podcast producer Sean Douglas.

The trio are looking for candidates who could join existing shows, present their own one-off programme or maybe even land a permanent place on a station.

BBC Wiltshire editor Mary Sanders, said: “Local radio has been the breeding ground for so much talent – Richard Hammond, Chris Morris and Simon Mayo to name a few. Wiltshire is full of incredibly talented people and we’re really looking forward to hearing from them.”

BBC England’s head of audio and digital Chris Burns said: “We are determined to discover the next generation of new radio talent.

"Our local teams speak to hundreds of people every day and know there are plenty of fascinating talkers out there who deserve more air time.”

Auditions will take place on Saturday, September 28 from 10am-4pm at the Workshed in Swindon.
