ALDI employees at its Swindon distribution centre raised £3,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust.

It has helped the firm reach a £4m milestone to give to the charity from its stores around the UK.

The managing director of corporate responsibility at Aldi Fritz Walleczek explained why the charity is important.

He said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust plays a crucial role in supporting young people through an incredibly difficult time, and it fills me with pride to know that colleagues from across Aldi are doing their bit to assist this important charity.”

Staff at the distribution centre at Scimitar Way raised their £3,000 by taking on activities throughout the year.

The logistics manager at the centre completed the challenge of cycling from London to Paris in four days.

Aldi started supporting the charity in 2017 after pledging to raise £5m by 2022.

The chief executive of TCT Kate Collins said: “On behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Aldi for the huge difference they’re making to young people with cancer across the UK.

“Reaching the £4 million milestone only two years into the partnership is incredible, and a real testament to the hard work, passion and enthusiasm of Aldi’s team and customers.”

For an hour of specialised care from a TCT nurse to support a patient costs £30.
