WILTSHIRE Police have welcomed the sentence handed out to violent Swindon bully Ricky Wilding.

The barber was jailed for six years and eight months after smashing down the door of his former partner before subjecting her to a brutal attack.

The ordeal left the young mum-of-two unable to smile without pain and unrecognisable to her children.

Wilding, 22, of Leighton Avenue, Park South, pleaded guilty to GBH and was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court.

Det Con Matt Lewis, of the public protection department, said: “Wilding is a manipulative and dangerous individual and I am pleased that the court has quite rightly identified him as a danger to women. The sentence he has been given reflects the danger he poses.

“Domestic abuse of any nature is completely unacceptable and we will do all that we can to ensure offenders are put before the courts.

“It takes a brave individual to speak out about domestic abuse and I thank the women in this case for standing up to Wilding so that justice could be served.”
