Campaigners are hoping that some of the hundreds of people who have signed a petition the council to make a West Swindon road safer will turn out at the authority’s offices this week.

The family of Dylan Grother, who was seriously injured three years ago when he was hit on a zebra crossing on Hay Lane, organised a petition to ask the council to set up a 20mph zone near the crossing.

They also was a speed hump across the width of the road, and to improve signs to make motorists more aware of it.

More than 800 people have signed the petition on paper and online, which will be debated at full council on Thursday.

A Facebook page Make Hay Lane Safe has been set up urging people to attend the meeting at Euclid Street on Thursday from 6.45pm with the meeting starting at 7pm.
