A MAN arrested on suspicion of assaulting his partner has been released on police bail.
His alleged victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Officers were called to a home on Winterbourne Road, Haydon End, at around 11pm on Sunday following reports of a woman having received head injuries.
The woman, 30s, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, where she remains in a critical condition. Police described her condition as stable.
A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said: "A man, also aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and taken to Gablecross custody.
"He has since been released on conditional bail and enquiries continue."
