THE MP for South Swindon has objected to the inclusion of land in Marlborough Road near Coate Water being earmarked for development.
And Robert Buckland has suggested to constituents that they write to Swindon Borough Council to make their feelings known as well. He wants the parcel of land opposite the Shell filling station removed from the draft local plan undergoing consultation.
Mr Buckland said: “This land is a corridor for local wildlife, which links Coate Water to Lawns and alongside fellow local residents, I believe that this land should be protected."
"The council has teamed up with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust to deliver a three-year programme, the Forest Meadows project, which will include 12 sites. This makes including the site in Marlborough Road as part of the local area plan even more inappropriate.”
Representations can be made to the council by emailing forwardplanning@swindon.gov.uk by 5pm on Monday September 23.
